Asian honorary vice president Baharuddin Jamil dies aged 77

Major (retd) Baharuddin Jamil, World Archery Asia's honorary vice president, passed away on January 18 in Malaysia. Since being elected to the continental federation's council in 2001 and serving as first vice president from 2005, Major Jamil significantly contributed to archery, including a tenure on World Archery's board of justice and ethics from 2003 to 2015. He was honored with a silver plaquette at the Copenhagen congress for his contributions. World Archery president Prof Dr Ugur Erdener expressed deep condolences, highlighting Major Baharuddin's pivotal role in developing archery in Asia and Malaysia and his personal friendship. Recognized as the 'father' of Malaysian archery, Major Baharuddin held various administrative roles, including secretary of the Malaysian archery federation. World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen commended his crucial role in developing archery across Asia, extending sincere sympathies to his family and the archery community in Malaysia.
